CERAMICS (WHEEL THROWING)

Level: Senior (Elective)
Prerequisites: Introduction to Art
Content: Students will have the opportunity to learn about clay and how to use the pottery wheel. Students will experience the pottery wheel while producing mainly functional ceramic pieces. Students will learn clay terms, historical content, and critiquing projects. Students will create "finished" art work by completing the following processes: drawing ideas, throwing, drying, firing, glazing, and re‐firing for desired finish. This is an advanced course where students will have to structure their time and schedule with the art teacher. This course is open to Seniors, and students will be chosen based on previous dedication to the visual arts. There will be seven spots available.
Structure: This course will meet 4 times per cycle. Students will be required to spend 4 mods in Open
Lab per cycle.
Note: Students will be required to pay an art fee of $40.
