PAINTING
Length, Time: One semester/ Offered 1rst semester
Level: Sophomore‐Senior Elective
Credit per semester: .5
Prerequisites: Introduction to Art
Content: Painting introduces the students to the materials and techniques of watercolor and acrylic painting while exploring a variety of painting surfaces and problems. Students will explore various subject matter (still life, landscape, and portrait) and will develop skill in aesthetic judgment and critical inking through discussion and critique. Students are encourages to express ideas, feelings, and the experiences in their paintings.
Structure: This class will meet 4 times a cycle, and students are expected to come to Open Lab 4 mods a cycle. Students may also need to work outside class and Open Lab time depending on how quickly the student works and how complicated the chosen projects are.
Note: Students will be required to pay an art fee of $40.00 which will supply a personal set of watercolor paints, a small personal set of acrylic paints, brushes, palette paper, watercolor paper, and canvases.
